Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the lucky 3rd grade teacher of 22 amazing children. Many of these children are English Language Learners and/or have special needs. They come from very diverse backgrounds but love the adventure of learning new information.
The families in our community come from a hardworking, low income area in Connecticut.
I often don't feel comfortable requesting supplies from our students' parents because most of them are working at least 2 jobs just to get by. The majority of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My Project
My students need footballs, soccer balls, basketballs, and a basketball hoop to keep them active during recess and outdoor play. Our playground was dismantled last year and our district will not be replacing it. The sports equipment will allow my students to have fun during recess by playing sports they love. Not only will this project help my class but, it will help the rest of the 3rd grade students!
