My Students
My new adventure has brought me to my new students in second grade.
These students are a group of eager, head strong minds that are driven by creativity.
They are eager learners of all abilities levels. When they come through my door, they are all on the same playing field and work together to reach their goals. For some, the challenge is not only in the classroom but also, in their own minds. Their minds are always racing and thinking and sometimes, they do not know how to positively and safely release their energy. Having hands on activities help them release their energy in a safe and creative way. We want all of their dreams to come true and have no obstacle stand in their way. "If you can dream it, you can do it!" ~ Walt Disney.
My Project
These various board and card games will help my classroom in several ways. First, we have had so many indoor recess days that the students are not feeling that recess is even "fun" anymore. We need a few new games to lift their spirits and even their minds.
Secondly, playing games help to teach many life lessons like taking turns and problem solving.
The new games may spark new interest and conversations. Competitive play is a good outlet for students that have been cooped up all day.
This project will help my students tremendously. Never underestimate the power of play!
