Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My first grade students are full of energy and enthusiasm. They are diverse in social and ethnic backgrounds. All of them come to school with a thirst for knowledge and structure. Sometimes, it is hard for them to focus on school work. I try to provide my students with the best learning environment possible to foster learning, thinking, and creativity.
Helping my students in any way makes me a better teacher.
This includes giving them all the support, tricks and materials that help benefit their learning. These kids are our future so it is important to help them succeed in any way possible.
My Project
When talking to my students about being successful in school and creating a positive learning environment, they wished for our class feel more like home with different flexible seating options. They want to get comfy cozy when reading a book or finishing assignements. They feel that floor seating would make our class feel more like home.
A classroom that feels like home is a welcoming place where students feel comfortable, safe, and ready to learn.
The use of flexible seating such as cushions and floor seating reminds kids of home. It helps them feel relaxed and safe. Our classroom will feel like a place that they never want to leave. They can cozy up and read independently or with their peers. With your help, this type of seating options would help us transform our classroom to an inviting spot. All my students will flock to this comfy, cozy, homey spot!
