This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember trying to find a jump rope to only find they were all in a pile on the floor? If you have ever played with a push ball you know what fun it can be, and having the right size basketball is so important. HELP! Our gym classes could use a little help!
I teach Physical Education in a high poverty inner city public school in Indiana.
Our school has almost 600 students, K-6, who love Physical Education! I see every student twice a week. We rarely go outside to play, and I want to teach the students how to exercise inside. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they could then go home and teach their families what they've learned? By doing this, the entire family will be exercising together, and everyone would be in shape!
My Project
Having a jump rope rack will help keep the ropes neat and arranged by sizes. We spend a lot of time trying to untangle them. With the pushball, my students will be able to play lots of fun games. Last year a guest teacher brought one in, and the kids went wild. They loved it. Since I have very small kids the men and women's size basketballs are sometimes too large for them to handle. It is important for them to have one that fits their hands. The 11" balls will be the perfect size for my special needs kids and the very tiny kindergartners.
Donations to this project will help over 600 students in my school.
With your help we can have our students improve their basketball skills, jump rope skills and work their whole body with the pushball. Students will benefit from being able to work on their shooting accuracy with the right size ball. The pushball will give the body a total workout while having fun. The rack for the ropes will allow us to save class time. Thank you for considering our project!
