I teach all-day Kindergarten in a multi-lingual, twenty student, classroom. On average, half of the class will come with a home language other than English, primarily Spanish, Tagalog or Chinese. Half are on free or reduced breakfast and lunch programs. Not only do we not have a music teacher or program, we also do not have any instruments or a music curriculum. In addition, we do not have the financial resources to purchase instruments, etc. Young children need to move, sing, develop rhythmically, etc. This kit would be such a delightful addition to our learning world and considerably expand the sing-along program currently in place. Children who develop coordination and learn songs carry this over into all parts of the academic day. They find it easier to learn how to rhyme words, isolate beginning sounds, and pronounce words correctly, to name just a few of the benefits. Studies have also shown that better coordination helps children form letters more successfully. This kit has enough instruments, of the simple and sturdy variety, for each child to have one during a lesson. By sharing them around, we would have a year filled with music, learned from the cassette lessons initially and subsequently from the music we make ourselves. Your consideration would be greatly appreciated
