This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I strive daily to have an engaging classroom that keeps my students involved and excited to learn. I am at a great school with a variety of demographics of families, although the majority are from low-income families. We are a Title I school. Although we have resources, it just never seems to be enough.
When coming to school, many students look forward to the consistency, love, and care they get while learning each day.
The students love to engage with each other, even if it's while learning. They thrive but also need breaks throughout the day to keep their minds focused. As the year continues, I'll continue to learn each of their needs, their ways of learning, and what benefits them to help excel in their learning.
My Project
Books are always special, especially when the books are relatable. I'm so happy that children are able to see themselves in a book and relate to the story. That's what makes reading enjoyable. I love to see the smiles on my students’ faces when they get excited about a little girl or a little boy in a story that looks just like them. Also, when they read stories that makes them feel empowered and give them positive affirmations about themselves. Sometimes we see ourselves a little different, but a book can help us all look the same.
