My Students

My students are a diverse group with different needs and abilities in and out of the classroom, and they are so eager and willing to learn. When they step foot in our classroom, they know they have a teacher who loves them, classmates who want to help them, and a school environment where they can feel safe and successful. They are passionate about their learning and embrace challenges.

Our school lacks a lot of the resources needed for students to be as successful as they can be.

I am hopeful to help my learners continue on a path of academic excellence.

My Project

Would you like to sit in the same spot all day to do your work? I know I like to move around while I am working, so I like to give my class the flexibility to move around as needed and sit where they learn best. They like to stand or kneel or just be moving while they work especially my students with ADHD and sensory issues. Their best learning comes when they are allowed to move. If my students have something to fidget with, their concentration improves. It gives them an outlet for their extra energy. Studies show that even 20 minutes of movement can increase the ability to retain new information. I would like seating options for my students so they are not stuck in a typical chair all day. They will be able to take their new seating choice and move to any spot around the room whether it is bouncing on the jellyfish chair or teacher cube at a different table or taking the floor chair and moving to any open spot. They will have choices!
