This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 24 second graders who attend a small neighborhood school. We are a school with a focus on arts and technology. Our school is a Title I school. My students come from a variety of cultures and speak many languages. They include gifted students, students who are English Language Learners, and students with disabilities. Although they come from diverse backgrounds, they all share a natural curiosity and passion for learning. Half of my students stay in the after-school program due to their parents' work schedule.

My Project

My students need an electric pencil sharpener. The one we currently have is literally on its last leg. We use handheld pencil sharpeners to supplement the old electric sharpener, but it is very tedious. It takes a long time for my students to sharpen their pencils and sometimes they accidentally spill the pencil shavings on the floor, or worse on their work.

Help my students by providing them with the basic supply of an electric pencil sharpener, so that they can write in all subject areas.

It may not seem like much, but a working electric pencil sharpener is a necessity in a classroom.
