My Students

Third grade is a wonderful age where students are excited to learn and love to try new things. My classroom is full of bright third graders who are very enthusiastic about school. They are thrilled to learn new things and enjoy discussing what they are learning.

Third grade is also an age where students are expected to sit for long periods of time, but aren't always physically capable of sitting still.

They need to wiggle and move around all while trying to learn, stay focused, and not bother others. It's a complicated thing for many students.

My Project

These cushions and fidget bands will give the students the ability to move and wiggle while simultaneously sitting and learning. They can rock and wiggle without having to get up and move around the room.

I have one student in particular who tips her chair so far back that she has fallen out of her chair multiple times.

The cushions should help her have the same movement in a safer way.

Several students have ADHD where they simply can't sit still for long periods of time, yet in education we expect them to do just that. This will be a balance between the two!
