The students at my school have such a passion for learning! Even though most of them have broken families and very little income, they all come to school with great big smiles and hugs for their teachers and classmates! These children have lives harder than most, and yet, they engage in class lessons each day and work so hard to keep up with the demands of their education.
A willingness to try new things in music class is truly one of the best qualities of these children!
Most of these students have little to no background in music education, so they come to me as a blank slate, from which I am able to craft new musicians and cultivate a passion for this performance art!
It is amazing to see their progress from year to year, all the way from their time in Young Fives or Kinder, through fifth grade! I am their only music teacher, so I am blessed to be able to see their growth all the way through. Daily, these children show me how truly fortunate I am to be here at their school and I am thankful for that every single day!
My Project
This stretchy band will be used for some very specific music and motion learning objectives! We have a few songs with motions that are written solely for students to use in conjunction with the stretchy band.
When the students participate in these activities using this stretchy band, they are learning how their actions impact others and how important it is to communicate and take turns.
There are some very important life skills being learned through these activities!
The visual timer will allow my students to learn independent time management. This skill is very helpful during center activities and transitions between activities.
My students will be able to have fun while learning these extremely important skills! The adults might have fun, too! We are excited to transform our learning experience this school year!
