My students need a Prek-K Readiness kit, a Pre-K Tool Kit, and materials for a writing curriculum to help the youngest learners with the skills they need to be successful in kindergarten.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our Pre-K to fifth grade school provides preschool to a diverse population of three, four, and five year old students. This is their first school experience, and the Pre-K teachers strive to make it their best. Students attend school all day. We provide breakfast, lunch, and even nap time! We have a very rigorous curriculum that teaches all content areas.
Our students come from a diverse "up and coming" neighborhood.
Preschool students learn how to attend school, follow directions, and be away from loved ones usually for the first time.
My Project
I would like to have a writing curriculum that helps my students learn the basics of handwriting without frustration. These materials are the preschool version of Handwriting Without Tears.
Preschool expectations are rising and it is more important than ever to provide our youngest learners with the skills they need to succeed in kindergarten.
This curriculum covers all key learning domains but does so in a way that is fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate for all learners.
The slate boards and mini pieces of chalk are perfect for preschoolers' hands. These will help them learn to form letters. The Tool Kits include everything I need to help support students to learn how to write. The Book Math Man will help my students learn math concepts in a fun way. The Rock Rap and Learn CD will give us catchy songs to help us remember our learning. All of this combined with training will help me transform handwriting into something fun!
