Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every day I get to come to school with my amazing students. Twenty-eight students with different backgrounds and stories to tell; amazing stories you can only get a from a 5-year old!
Our differences create a positive classroom environment where each student feels comfortable to make mistakes and try their hardest.
We are young, yet we are learning to support each other in a variety of ways by helping, communicating, and understanding each other. Being a classroom family and cheering for each other is what makes our class special!
Our school is a Title I urban school with a diverse population, serving free or reduced-price lunch to over 80% of our students. School becomes a safe haven for these scholars where expectations are the same every day. While they come to school to learn, they thrive when they are given the opportunity to utilize a variety of resources to make learning real and fun.
My Project
We have a great outdoor patio for learning and my students would love to use it. I want to have them actively learn while working on social and emotional skills.
The picnic table, mesh chairs, stack stools, and portable lap desks will give us the opportunity to bring our classroom outdoors.
We will use the garden gloves, garden tools, potting mix, and kneeling pads for a sensory garden play. Students will work on social and emotional skills with magnetic pattern blocks, sift and find alphabet, learning resources grow it and outdoor learning set, and play-doh.
We will create environmental art. They can use the doodle pros to sketch. The magnetic write and wipe board, double-sided easel, paint, sponge set, and brushes will bring a new dimension to outdoor learning by nurturing our creativity and imagination.
Being outdoors will develop our interest in the environment and keep us engaged and motivated to learn.
