The KIDS Center is an alternative program within a middle school. It offers support for students in grades 6-8 who have learning disabilities, emotional disturbances, autism, and/or have experienced other traumas. Our goal is to help students stay in school, connect with peers, and make the most of their educational experience by providing an atmosphere that is comfortable and encourages quality education.
We strive to build self-esteem and teach social skills, life skills, and team building.
Each year, we look forward to offering many incentives and activities for students to earn. Students earn points throughout the year for their attendance, positive behavior, good effort, and achieving their personal goals which they then can use toward items on their wish lists.
They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have the opportunity to work with them for the whole 3 years that they are here at the middle school!
My Project
Virtual Learning is different for us all, what we are doing now, is much different than the Fall. My students are struggling, managing the everyday online school. Being outside is where they can relax and be cool.
Stuck inside a lot of the day, students need time outside to learn and play!
Gross motor and movement skills are important too, to get moving, they need some help from you!
This will fund projects I'll teach them all from Zoom, teaching outside my house, not a room. I know the importance of getting outside, just to go run and hide.
Lessons to make chalk, bubbles, rocket gross motor /movement ladders, exchange games ideas and use our brainpower.
Creativity is the key to help with my student's emotional well being, to keep them positive and forward seeing.
As needed, delivered to each house, snacks, and prizes, because my student's needs come in all shapes and sizes.
They love Oreos, Gatorade, Capri Suns, and chips, it gets them energized and makes them flip!
