My Students

My students come from a diverse community in Queens, NY. They come from a huge variety of economic, religious, and cultural backgrounds. We have many ENL students who are new English-language speakers and learners. Over 80% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

Our school works hand-in-hand with the community to ensure the highest quality education for all students who attend here.

We have a focus on service learning and global conservation, where the students and staff take part in fundraising and creating awareness about issues within the community and around the world. We make global partnerships and teach important citizenship values to our students through these worldwide connections.

My Project

This project is the perfect complement to our school curriculum. We teach tons of literacy skills through social studies and science and BrainPop is an important tool to help us fill those learning gaps.

The BrainPop videos and games are engaging and help our students grasp complex concepts.

The program helps our ELL population to make more concrete connections to our curriculum. The vocabulary supports and funny characters make BrainPop a perfect fit for our elementary school learners.

This is an awesome tool that is intended for grades 3+ but will also help our first and second-grade students as well.
