Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our 3rd grade classroom is located in a large, low-income community. We have a range of unique talents, abilities, challenges and characteristics that blend into a one of a kind group of students.
I find that challenging my students everyday has helped to build their self-esteem and confidence, helping them to move forward.
Even if they are not quite meeting grade level standards yet, they will.
Together with the students, we strive to create an environment that strengthens the desire to learn more than they knew before. I enjoy showing my students that we can learn new things and build new skills in many ways!
My Project
I often pull small instructional groups to front load or reteach essential standards. Many times the students in need of this strategy have difficulty focusing and lack the stamina needed to grasp the standards being addressed.
These Boogie Boards will help me build their stamina and hold their attention while practicing these much needed skills.
I can pull groups at my kidney table, on my carpet or even do a quick game by using one Boogie board at each table.
Although it is a tool, it will help them focus on the task at hand while having fun. Learning is fun; it's just about finding that fun for each individual!
