Help me give my students printer cartridges for printing out their typed up literary works, and other printable resources as well as folders and binders to help keep them organized and ready for class.
I work in a classroom that serves students with varying disabilities in a small group setting. I was blessed with the honor of teaching this class and this will be my first time in a lead teacher role. I am excited to see what's to come. The program serves students in kindergarten-2nd grade in a school that has a high population of families that are economically disadvantaged.
I love the students I serve and their families and could not imagine my life without either of them.
My students have various academic, social and cognitive delays but can communicate and interact in a peer group of students of the same age. They have various sensory needs that can be met by having access to materials and supplies that feed these needs, but are expensive or difficult for us to come by due to limited funding.
My new classroom serves 12 students. My students are quirky and fun. We laugh and learn together every day. They love learning new things and are intrigued by everything. They love music, art, and animals. My goal is to create an organized, comfortable, visually stimulating, sensory friendly, alternative learning environment to facilitate learning for all.
Helping students to get organized can be a difficult task. This is more true when attempting to teach organizational skills to students with special needs.
Teaching organizational skills early in life will be a big step in ensuring students remain organized throughout their time in school and well into adulthood.
The binders will be one part of a system that will help my students get accustomed to keeping all their things in one place. The colorful folders will be extremely helpful as they keep various subjects organized and color coded based on what has been completed and what still needs to be done. .
