Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Have you ever tried to learn a new language? Did you ever try reading in just that new language and feel the thrill of actually understanding on your own? It's like cracking a code or solving a mystery. Some students become intrigued.
This group of teens is a gleeful bunch who are most often in an agreeable mood.
They love sports and clubs. Many are involved, more volunteer, and nearly everyone encourages each other on a daily basis. Many that have graduated come back and become teachers in the district. The generations of students that have attended have fond memories. There are more than 1700 students. This is a top district in the state for our size, especially considering the limited resources available. And we do - our district was awarded AP District of the Year (nationwide) by the College Board.
My Project
In any classroom, a magnetic dry erase whiteboard can be a focal point. A project for one board has recently been fulfilled, this project is for the second one. Students can write their work on the board, and correct each other. I also write messages on the board for all classes to see. I also have the weekly calendar so students know to expect during class time. Students can do language relays or dictation in teams. The grid lines on the board will help students keep their writing straight.
Whiteboards are perfect for use in language classes when they are magnetic.
I can print and attach images as needed to help illustrate concepts. It helps a student to be able to visualize the word without translating when learning a language.
