I have been teaching for 10 years in a Title I school where a high population of students receive free or reduced lunch. A large portion of our students families are transient. No matter what students' home life may be like, I want to provide memorable learning experiences in the classroom.
My second graders are at all ability levels, but they know that I have high expectations for each one of them.
Students in my class often work in small reading and math groups throughout the day. I make an effort to provide hands-on activities to engage all learners.
My Project
Exciting professional development? Absolutely! This two day conference is led by Deanna Jump and Hope King (co-author of The Wild). They along with many other educators lead break-out sesssions where teachers learn about and participate in engaging reading and math lessons. They also share tips, tricks, and best practices that they have seen work in their own classrooms. Teachers excited about learning help students get excited about learning. After teaching for 10 years, I am ready for a rejuvenation. I want my students to be on fire for learning. It starts with my second grade classroom! It starts with me!
