My students need an inviting and comfy place to read! Think about it, where do you like to read, at a hard seat or a comfy chair?

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine coming to school and being a number or a test score. Your teachers are judged and stressed to help you reach the standardized test norms. Unfortunately, this is all too true for students in public schools today. My students are NOT test scores!
My classroom is full of diverse learners with a wide range of special needs both academically and physically.
My students are vibrant, interesting, dynamic individuals. I serve artists, musicians, interpreters, mathematicians, scientists, historians, and readers! They are sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, and kind citizens. These young people are finding their way in the world, and I am lucky enough to be their guide for seven hours a day.
My Project
I am requesting a class set of the book, Frindle, by Andrew Clements, and two bean bag chairs. Getting students excited about learning is half the battle. With this engaging story and beanbags, I hope to create a comfy reading space for my students. Frindle is the tale of a fifth grade, creative, troublemaker, Nick, with whom my students will surely relate to.
I know that my diverse classroom of readers will love reading this book as they take on their first independent reading novel study in small groups.
I cannot wait for my students to apply their reading strategies to this fun and exciting novel while showing off their reading skills!
