Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in the city of Springfield. Many come from low-income families and do not have money for school supplies. My students are smart, outgoing, and excited to learn.
I want my students to be able to create something that will be so exciting and interesting that it causes other students to ask them about the subject knowledge.
I want to be able to watch my students explain what they have learned to other students in a way that inspires other students to learn about the same subject.
My Project
My students have asked me to get new books for their library. Many of the students have read most of the chapter books that are in the classroom library already. I have asked for the glue because many of the glue sticks from earlier in the year are gone. I am asking for the shredder so that I can shred students old report cards and personal information; for example, contact information and addresses that is no longer needed.
I have asked for the clear sleeves for my students to use as a resource with their center activities.
This way the students will be able to mark up copies of articles and graphic organizers without having me make a copy for each student;therefore, saving paper. I use the label tape to put the students names on their cubbies and their headphones. Some of the headphones that I had received earlier in the year are broken and need to be replaced. My students use their headphones everyday to listen to programs within ELA and math.
