This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are an elementary school located in Virginia with a mission to build community, empower our students, and develop the whole child. Our school has a population of 520 kindergarten through fifth grade students. We strive to create opportunities that inspire students to positively impact those around them.
Third graders are inquisitive and excited about new learning experiences.
They like to communicate with their classmates and welcome opportunities to engage in collaboration which helps them deepen their knowledge. It is amazing to watch their progress!
My Project
As a teacher, I am always looking for ways to get my students excited about math. One way to do this is by engaging students with hands-on games and literature.
Third graders will get "Lit About Math" and deepen their understanding of mathematics in many fun, engaging ways.
Students will read books that tackle math concepts and follow with lessons to reinforce skills covered in the text. They will collaborate with peers through practice with a variety of math games.
Making resources available to students in the classroom will help expand their knowledge and provide opportunities for them to grasp new content connected with math.
