Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The music department is the face of the school. The marching band plays at community parades and football games. The orchestra performs at music festivals in the surrounding community. However, the music may never be heard if there isn't materials to print it on.
With over 300 students in the music department many students from the high school are receiving a quality education in the arts!
The students of the music department are very hardworking, come from the mid to lower end of the socioeconomic spectrum and practice ideals of dedication, discipline, desire and integrity. These students put in long hours and perform at many community events. Students typically stay all four years of their high school career and go onto play into college and beyond. Although many do not go onto become music majors, the majority of them use their talents to obtain scholarships and priority registration for college courses.
My Project
Students cannot make music together unless they have the ink to print and the paper to print it on. One musical work for the marching band will easily use one half ream of paper. In order to save on shipping cost we are utilizing e-print whenever possible. this means that music is being printed on the printer rather than the copier. With 15 songs in their pep song book the marching band could use a lot of paper and ink. This does not account for music notation exercises which are tailored for groups of students within the music department, the last minute copies of ensemble parts or the printing of programs for the winter concert.
By donating basic office supplies you will help this high school music department by provide basic essentials of music, music exercises, concert programs, schedules, certificates, awards and much more.
Thank you for your consideration and keep the music flowing!
