Help me give my students new, portable instructional technology with a Microsoft Surface Go to conveniently access 5th grade curriculum and push their thinking.
I teach a very diverse group of twenty-four 5th graders at a public K-5 elementary school in the Silicon Valley of California. My students have a variety of linguistic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Over 50% of our students are English learners, and more than a third come from low income families.
My job is to help prepare students for success in middle school and beyond as they reach their personal and educational goals.
We are becoming lifelong learners and contributing members of society who think critically and are constantly problem solving. Each year is a new adventure, and I consider myself very fortunate to be able to learn alongside such amazing young people!
My Project
The use of technology is a hot topic in our modern world. My 5th graders are growing up in the heart of Silicon Valley, literally down the street from the the headquarters of Apple Computers. They need access to the most current computers and apps available to thrive in our tech-savvy society.
The Microsoft Surface Go is an incredible piece of portable technology, equipped with Windows 10, the power to run numerous educational apps, and the convenience of a tablet.
My 5th graders and I will be immediately able to access MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint from anywhere. We are looking forward to increasing collaboration by making use of Classroom OneNote and OneDrive. We will be able to create Virtual Binders and have countless educational apps literally at the tips of our fingers.
From researching about the human body systems and using speech-to-text to dictate writing pieces, to watching educational videos about the American Revolution and pushing our thinking with STEM/coding apps, we are eager to make use of a new Microsoft Surface Go!
