Do you remember the joy you felt when listening to someone read to you, whether it was sitting on a family members lap or your teacher reading your favorite book to the class. For me one of my fondest memories was sitting in my mom's lap each night listening to her read the same book over and over again. This experience sparked my love of reading and helped me to truly appreciate all the different directions books can take you in. Because of these experiences I want to create the same joy, success, adventure and love of reading in my students that I had growing up.
My students come from all different socioeconomic backgrounds and experiences.
Some students come in reading and others have no letter knowledge, and it's my responsibility to meet each students needs to create a love of learning. I want to have fun engaging learning activities where all students can be successful and gain confidence. With the help of technology I believe I can provide this to them.
I will provide each student with a QR code which will allow them to easily listen and follow along with the book of their choice, no matter their reading level. My hope is that students will be excited and engaged in reading using the Kindle Fire tablets.
Students will be able to combine the love of listening to a stories read to them and technology.
The Kindle Fire tablets will also give the class access to other apps and technology resources to help enhance the learning experience. Additional uses for the Kindle Fire tablets will include programs such as Dreambox which is a math learning program.
