Celebrate Black Teachers and Students
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything.
I teach Kindergarten in an inner city school. This is my 33rd year here with the last 25 years in Kindergarten. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school. They feel safe and loved here.
My Project
My kindergarten students love to create. They love to draw, cut and glue. We create projects everyday either during reading, math, science or social studies. They are always so proud of their creations and can't wait to take them home and share them with their families. You would be amazed at what they can do with paper, paint, tissue paper and glue.
This quote by Ben Franklin "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." applies to my kindergarteners. I love to provide them the opportunity to create projects that will help them remember.
