I am a reading specialist and I service students who have some challenges in reading. I teach 30 awesome students who range from grades 1st through 3rd grade. They love to read and work in a small group setting. The school i work in is very diverse and many students come from difficult financial situations. Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds. They still are eager to come to my class and get lost in new books and adventures!
My Project
Students sit in thousands of different positions. Upright, slouched, twisted, tilted, straddling their seats. They stretch out their legs, sit on them, cross them, bounce them. They’re kids!
The most notable advancement in classroom seating is seating that moves or that a student feels comfortable in.
As a reading specialist, students come to my classroom to work on their reading strengths and weaknesses. It is so vital that they are comfortable to reach their full potential. These flexible seating chairs will help students become successful in the classroom.
I feel like we want the reading room to be a warm inviting place. Students are living their safe zone to come to another safe zone. We want them to feel comfortable. I feel that with the help of these chairs, my students will be really excited to independently read all the time!
