This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My second graders left school at 2:10 on Friday, March 13, 2020, just like any other Friday. Information changed and moved so quickly that the Governor of our state closed schools for the rest of the academic year.
My young learners are adaptive and we are hanging in and navigating distance learning together.
We are in daily communication in one form or another. We are sharing ideas and information through email, phone calls, postcards, and now the virtual classrooms. Students are so kind and supportive in our new classroom. Unfortunately, not all students have internet access or a personal device. However, my students have awesome determination and will continue to learn, grow, and be successful.
My Project
My students may have access to a device but they may be sharing it with two or three siblings. Many parents are working from home and need their devices for their own jobs. My project for these Fire 7 tablets will provide some of my students with a personal device.
This device will help level the playing field for some of my students by providing a way for them to connect to our new distance learning classroom.
I want to try and make our new school-day normal as equitable as possible for all of my students.
