Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students at my school come from an array of different backgrounds and cultures. Students speak different languages and celebrate different traditions. My students love to learn from one another. My students love to collaborate with their peers to problem solve different situations.
They strive to be connected with each other and through this energy, they learn how to work together.
Regardless of academic standing, languages, and other differences, my students have consistently shown that they want to work together to build success and learn. My students are motivated and determined to learn. They love to learn and show others what they know!
My Project
These items that I have selected are specifically for my new reading area that will help create an inviting and welcoming area for my students to relax with a good book. Nowadays most students can go online and read a book, but I want students to be able to pick out a book themselves and find a cozy spot to read something that interest them! The bench will be used as additional seating for students during reading time and I will be able to use the compartments as storage for more book bins. I currently have one bean bag chair that the students LOVE, so I added another one to this project so more students have the opportunity to sit in one.
I want to create an inviting reading nook for my students so they are excited to pick up a book and read!
Many of my students are English Language Learners who are just beginning to read and I have purchased an array of sight word readers because I currently only have black and white books for their level. I want them to be excited about picking out a colorful book just like their peers!
