My students come into our classroom each day full of life, eager to learn, and determined to overcome any obstacles that come their way. My class is a diverse group of students with significant disabilities at a larger middle school in Texas. While only in 7th-8th grade, my students are already some of the hardest working people that I know. 70% of the students each free lunch.
Despite the many challenges that they face, my students never give up.
Their resilience is incredible, and it is an absolute honor to know them.
My students come to school full of life and ready to learn! Just like adults get tired of sitting in hard chairs all day, students do too! They need more flexible/comfortable seating options to enhance student engagement and learning. Studies show that students learn better when they are physically active and comfortable. Students are able to bounce on an exercise ball, sit, stand, kneel, etc.
Some of the seating options that will be provided with this project are a bean bag chairs and bungee chairs.
These options will give my students the opportunity to sit comfortably and move around while they are learning.
This project would significantly help my students stay engaged in our learning throughout the day. I want them to feel comfortable and at home in our classroom. I cannot wait to see all of the things we can do with flexible seating!
