Mrs. Perry from Washington DC is requesting a class trip through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need their visit to the United Nations funded so that they can experience where critical debates that impact the future of our global community take place.

Our students are energetic! They are constantly on the move. They love to explore new things, especially things that interest them like music, art, sports, and fashion.
Our students learn in variety of ways.
Traditional teaching methods don't always work. Many of our students come to us below grade level in both reading and math. They require creative interventions and support to help them to access grade level standards.
Majority of my students reside in Southeast, Washington, DC.
Our school is an open-space school meaning our classrooms are not separated by walls and doors. Instead, furniture divides class spaces.
Our students are visiting New York City in mid June for an end of year class trip. We would like for them to tour the United Nations Headquarters in Manhattan in order to understand the larger role of the United Nations and experience where critical debates that impact the future of our global community take place. Our students will be led on a private tour of the UN where they will learn about its role in peacekeeping, the Millennium Goals, and other pertinent information. After participating in this trip students will write a script and produce a film where they will reflect on their visit so that next year’s fifth graders can be introduced to the trip through this medium.
