This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are amazing, marvelous and challenging on many levels. They come to school excited, eager to experience an exciting lesson. I often refer to them jokingly as “challenging customers” that refuse to accept second best. As I try my best to provide an excellent customer service to my clientele, I find that it is never enough to just teach.
It is a journey to discover how best to serve every single one of my students and get them ready for college and for life and I am enjoying the ride.
Our school is a Title I school in Atlanta where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students are facing many socioeconomic challenges that hinder their academic success. As I observe them interact with one another, enthused in a lesson, I regain my conviction that a future is possible and achievable for all my students.
My Project
A recent statistic reveals that American children miss more than 22 millions days of school each year due to colds, flu and other infections. The report goes on to say that back to school equals back to germs. My students and I do not want a germy classroom.
We will chase the unwanted germs away armed with hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, and tissues.
Children should not miss their life-changing experiences. We have the unique opportunity to avoid the spreading of germs in our classrooms.
The resources from this project will ensure that the teacher and students do not miss school. The Clorox wipes will help keep the desks clean before class. The tissue will come to the rescue with colds and runny noses. The hand sanitizer will be our everyday protector against germs.
