For many of my students, our school is their home, their safe place, the place they go to to eat and be happy. Many of our students, have come from various Hispanic countries near and far, unprepared with the basic necessities, with hope to adapt and succeed. We are committed to providing every student with an opportunity to get ahead, early in life, and build a strong educational foundation.
With limited funding available, it is difficult to supply my little artists with the various supplies and resources needed to provide a sanitary art experience.
With so many children in one place and sharing supplies, it's no wonder that the classroom can be a breeding ground for the germs that cause colds and flu.Our students need access to cleaning tools to prevent illnesses. Students will be encouraged to exercise these habits at all times in their lives.
My students are enthusiastic to learn and appreciate and welcome every opportunity to engage in new experiences.
My students need wipes, hand soap, and other germ cleaning materials. Young children catch about eight colds a year. Combined, they lose nearly 22 million school days due to the common cold alone. With so many children in one place and sharing supplies, it's no wonder that the classroom can be a breeding ground for the germs that cause colds and flu. Regular disinfecting in classrooms can result in fewer absences caused by illness and I believe more can be done to make classrooms cleaner and healthier places for our children.
To eliminate the spreading of germs, each child should have their own art supplies if possible, however, working in such a low income/urban district will not allow such conveniences.
Students struggle to survive with the basic necessities in life.As a teacher, I can not expect that art supplies are a priority. Students have no choice but to share crayons, paintbrushes and other art supplies. All of these supplies are "germ sponges!" My only solution is to be diligent and try my best to disinfect my classroom, however these items are very costly. We need your help!!!
