This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students primarily come from an underprivileged population in an urban environment. Many of my students do not have the resources at home to maximize their learning potential. It is my goal, then, to provide them with the best tools and resources possible for the time that they are in my classroom.
I believe that every one of my students can be college-bound, despite the fact that many of them come from families where this has not been a reality.
In order to achieve this goal, my students will need a variety of tools to meet their needs as individual learners.
My Project
As we begin our new school year, we know we will need items such as tissue, hand sanitizer, and Lysol wipes. My students use these items on a daily basis to keep them healthy.
When students are sick, they are absent from school, which causes them to miss critical learning opportunities.
Just 2 absences per month can lead to a student falling behind in reading, writing, and math. Knowing how easily germs can spread throughout a classroom, it is crucial that we take steps to minimize this.
Students will use the hand sanitizer to keep their hands free of germs before eating, and the Lysol wipes are used to keep the surfaces in our room (tables, doorknobs, etc) that are touched constantly, free of germs.
