My students need help paying for transportation to Camp Jekyll located on Jekyll Island, GA. They will experience hands-on learning at the Georgia 4-H program located there.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students walk into the classroom every day ready to learn something new about the world. I teach at a Title I school in Georgia where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Despite hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best.
They want to be in school because they want to learn and they work hard to reach their personal and academic goals each day. These students deserve the opportunity to learn more by having this once in a lifetime experience!
My Project
In February of 2017, my students will travel to Jekyll Island to participate in lessons taught at Camp Jekyll 4-H.
"A world in which youth and adults learn, grow and work together as catalysts for positive change," that's the Georgia 4-H vision and the experience at Jekyll Island is sure to help our students become educated, productive citizens in our community.
This experience will help the students better understand the material we have covered this school year in regards to environmental science, geography, and history. Many of the students have not visited other regions of Georgia, so this will allow them to travel and explore an area outside of their community!
