My students need individual protractors and compasses for their Geometry Lessons. It's very hard to learn about angles or theorems without the right tools.

My Students

What can be better than learning Math while having a fun time with high level manipulatives? My students have only a few old protractors in the classroom, and are forced to share them constantly. I would love for them to work on measuring angles without having to fight for the tools!!

My students come from a mixed ethnicity population.

They are very smart 5th graders. They love to read out loud, role play, and write book reports. They are also very excited when we have the daily Math time. They enjoy this subject very much. They can't truly enjoy Geometry, because we lack the tools of the trade!

My Project

My students will enjoy and learn Geometry when they have the right tools to work on the subject. More importantly, the spatial and kinesthetic element when learning with a manipulative has implications beyond the actual subject, Math. Their fine motor skills will improve, and the experience will be a foundation for later years.

My students know that learning doesn't have to be dull.

They might not understand the profound reasons of the economic crisis, but they know that if they had a protractor and a compass in their hands, they would want the daily Math time to never end. They need these tools because they are the right tools for what they are asked to do, and yet, they are non existent in our classroom!
