Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guatemala, Spain… these are some of the countries where my students have come from. My bilingual classroom is one of two high school bilingual classrooms in our district. It is full of unique personalities and cultures. Words I would use to describe my students are funny, happy, creative, dramatic, and low income. All of them are receiving free breakfast and lunch. My bilingual students need geometry resources to help them more about Geometry.
This project will help my students strengthen their learning with the necessary materials to learn Geometry.
The rulers will be use for two purposes: to measure and to aid in drawing. The calculators will accommodate my students with their calculations and achieve a better understanding of topics such as area, volume, perimeter, Pythagorean Theorem, among others. The protractors will help students construct and measure angles. The graph notebooks will allow them plotting mathematical functions or experimental data and drawing two-dimensional graphs.
My Project
This project will help my bilingual class enhance their learning with the necessary materials to learn Geometry and apply it to their daily lives. My students are in need of multiple supplies for Geometry class. With your support, we would access to calculators and other resources.
My bilingual students lack supplies for such a huge undertaking and are struggling to see how Geometry may be applied to them and the world around them.
Some of the materials that our class needs are calculators, protractors, rulers, and graph notebooks. The calculators have functions like basic math functions, square roots, and exponents to help them with calculations. Protractors, rulers, and graph notebooks are essential to students' understanding of the geometry concepts.
