Help me give my students an engaging way to learn about geometry, economics, and coding skills. The Tello Drone Quadcopter will teach my students how to increase their human capital and increase their spatial understanding.
My school is in a progressively growing rural community with total enrollment in Pre-K through 5th grade of a little over 700 students. The town population is approximately 66,881, with 17 elementary schools in the district. The diversity at our school comes from the economic levels with approximately 48% of our students receiving free and reduced lunches. Having a wide range of abilities in my classroom provides wonderful learning opportunities. I teach in a co-taught fifth grade classroom with twenty-eight students.
My Project
Is there a better way to learn about STEM and increasing our human capital than learning more about computer coding with drones? Pair that with mathematical concepts centered around spatial understandings, problem solving, critical thinking and you have a LIVE learning experience. The Tello Drone Quadcopter utilizes basic coding skills, geometric recognition, and patterns in order for students to solve problems and enhance their critical thinking skills. These drones will get my students excited and engaged all while participating in real world economics. The students while have choices and decisions to make as they attempt to solve problems as a team. These drones will get my students hooked into learning about geometry, economics, and coding.
