This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students live in the desert next to the Palo Verde Nuclear Plant. We are surrounded by open desert, dairy farms, and blue skies.

My students need experience with actual objects to learn geometry vocabulary.

I have found that teaching constructions explicitly helps students understand how to name objects and define terms like angle bisector, perpendicular, and midpoint.

The calculators I have are a mixed bunch of old TI-83s that I have spent over $200 of my own money replacing batteries in. My students need reliable calculators to help support their work as they write and solve algebraic equations based on geometric diagrams.
