Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 26 kindergarten students who love to come to school every day. They cry when they are sick and unable to come. My students have lots of energy and are always happy to help out their peers and their teacher. My students love to practice writing their name, their friend’s names and their family members names.
Over 90% of students at my school qualify for free or reduced price lunch.
Although we are a low-income school, we try our best everyday to provide our students with a high quality education. Our school may not look pretty from the outside, but the heart and soul of any school is the teachers and students.
My Project
These math materials will make learning math a fun and interactive experience for my students. My students are five and six years old, so they need hands on manipulatives to make learning math accessible to them. Math can be very abstract and these manipulatives will help my students to visually make connections with numbers and quantities. My students need materials to explore the different aspects of shapes. The magnetic shapes will provide my students with multiple opportunities to explore geometry in a fun and interactive manner. My students also need a variety of puzzles so that they can continue exploring geometry in a developmentally appropriate manner.
