My students need geography materials, including a new United States carpet and a Geosafari Talking Globe, to provide them with a better understanding of a topic they are passionate about.
The desire for knowledge that my students demonstrate on a daily basis is insatiable. They are interested in everything and geography has become especially interesting to all of them.
Every year I teach I become increasingly inspired by my students.
Although my students present as being on the autism spectrum they are absolutely brilliant. Most are reading simple books and performing basic math operations such as adding. As their knowledge increases so does their curiosity and I am determined to to enhance their learning experiences as much as possible so they continue on the path to life-long learning. Being atypical learners, they require as many learning experiences as possible to retain their attention and increase their knowledge. The materials I am requesting will help achieve these goals.
My Project
I am requesting only two resources; one being a floor carpet of U.S. geography. This item serves two purposes as we need a new carpet and the students are interested in learning about the United States. As early learners, we spend a great deal of time learning on the floor. This item will not only provide them with a new learning area it has a built in educational component that I know the students will get countless hours of enjoyment. In addition, the globe will help me them visualize topics we have discussed and will discuss in the future. It is interactive so it can be used for both one-to-one instruction and whole group.
Your donation will make it possible for my students to better understand their world.
At the basic level it will assist in objectives such as understanding location and direction, but more importantly it will help them better comprehend the scope of the world and their importance as individuals.
