Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a Title I (low income, high impact) school with learners eager to grow and learn! I have anywhere from 20-25 students depending on the time of year. We have a large transient population.
My classroom is a colorful, fun, organized environment where students come to learn and to have fun!
They know they are loved and know this is a safe space to explore and make mistakes. Often my students don't have access to those kinds of spaces outside of school so it fills my heart to know I can help provide that for them.
My Project
My students need a new and fun way to build and look at shapes. Who doesn't remember loving geoboards from elementary school? Not only will this help my students enjoy their shape building experience, I can sneak in some fine motor skills! Getting those rubber bands to stay on the pegs can be hard for Kindergartner's hands and the more exposure they have to different types of fine motor activities the better!
I am also asking for more pattern blocks, my students love this center so much that during playtime we often have so many students there and we run out of pattern blocks!
