I love my students in Los Angeles who are creative, out-of-the box thinkers! They are such eager learners, I am consistently recreating lessons to keep them engaged and challenged. However, what I find interesting, may not exactly drive my students' curiosity. I refined my approach and focused on their motivation, not mine.
My classroom has become a creative, problem-solving, risk-taking and growth mindset environment where each of my students engage in their own learning to drive their curiosity!
Our new classroom environment has become a collaboration hub full of ideas and 100% participation. They have developed their own problem-solving approaches to their ideas along with developing their own strengths and expertise.
My Project
My students have creative minds beyond their age! I am constantly reinventing my lessons to keep it challenging and engaging. I finally decided to implement Genius Hour, which I borrowed from Google. In order to improve employee productivity, they would encourage their employees to spend 20% of the week working on choice projects that were within their passion.
For my students to completely immerse themselves in their own learning within their passion, I am asking for two laptops to help explore and cultivate a community of creativity, to spark the love of learning, researching, investigating, generating ideas, etc.
Genius Hour is a wonderful way to help encourage students to think, ask their own questions, choose their strategies, solve problems, work collaboratively, and share their work.
