Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Forensics in the Classroom (FIC) is part of Court TV Science Curriculum with five different realistic mysteries that students experience putting their knowledge to the test like real CSIs. After doing some FIC activities, I discovered they got my students thinking deeper by making learning exciting. I want to develop a more extensive unit for my students with some other resources to enrich this unit. The forensic activities involve simple lab experiments and align with nationally recognized standards and safety requirements. The units can be taught as introductions to basic chemistry ideas and forensic techniques, or used as creative ways to review information we have already covered. I am learning as I am going along and with each class, each lesson takes a different turn and I let it go with my students' thinking process. I want my students to see the link between their learning and real life DNA tests and lab evidence that is used in the court systems.
