This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach at an inner-city school that has a high level of exceptional students who actually enjoy going to school and learning. It’s my job to provide them with whatever they need to learn and achieve their goals in education. My school is small (300)and doesn't get the funding that other schools get
The students are great and they work hard in all of their studies here in school.
Most of the students spend extra time after school to participate in Concert and Jazz Bands because they love playing music so much. The instruments have been in this school since 1996 and I'm slowly trying to update the materials and equipment for the students.
My Project
It's important to educate the whole child and music is a part of that. The students at this high School do very well at music and they will continue to in college as a music major or just playing in college ensembles as a music minor. The students who have been in band in the past have taken their love of music with them to college and participate in music classes and ensembles all over the country. The feeling of being together in a group of friends and playing music is something they want to keep in their lives even when they leave High School. I have requested several boxes of reeds for different woodwind instruments and a pair of timpani mallets
I want my students to have what they need to succeed in music or whatever they want to achieve in life.
The instruments have been in this school since 1996 and I'm slowly trying to update the materials and equipment for the students. The donations will allow my students a chance to do this.
