I am a visual arts teacher at a wonderful school that is a kindergarten through second-grade school for the second year. My students are sweet, curious and challenging at times, but there's no place I'd rather be than with my art classes.
My students love to "give back," and we do many community and global projects throughout the year to teach acceptance and kindness, such as blankets for animals at the Humane Society, The Memory Project, and participating in Peace Day.
We have several ideas this year to spread some love.
I have taught art classes for 17 years; ten years at this school. I love every minute of it. Our staff is nurturing, highly qualified, and we care deeply about our students.
My Project
Gelli printing uses a gelatin plate that allows layering and multiple textures to be added to the print. Using leaves, feathers, stencils and objects, students can print beautiful nature prints.
I would love for my art classes to have the gelli experience since it is so much easier than block printing.
Young children are almost always successful with this process.
I am requesting several different sizes of gelli plates and white card stock to print. I have the brayers, paints and stencils already, so all we need to get started are the plates and paper.
Thank you for considering my project and for helping me expose my students to a new art process.
