My students are an energetic, fun, happy, and inquisitive group of 3-5 year olds. All of the students in our program are either eligible by household income or special needs. The children I work with love to discover new things and are excited about learning through play.
We spend the majority of our day in free choice play where we explore the different activities that have been put out.
This makes the materials, manipulatives, and resources so important to their learning. Every day in my classroom is a new adventure filled with discovery, and we learn along the way.
My Project
My students love to use magnetic items. We have several different games and activities that use a magnetic surface but do not have a dedicated board for these games. The magnetic write and wipe center will give us a place to play these games neatly.
Gears, Gears, Gears
The gears activity will be used with the new magnetic board for them to build and use their imagination to put the moving parts together to make them turn. They love the gears that are not magnetic so being able to use them on an upright surface will put them in another working plane and use different muscles while they are working.
