My students need copies of Julius Caesar in accessible language, "I Can" statements to know their learning objectives, a bright and educational classroom environment via literary posters, and a whiteboard to view notes.
My students are primary at-risk, low income, struggling readers. My school is a drop out prevention alternative school. Our students typically struggle with reading comprehension and motivation, so we work in small class settings to help give each student what they need.
Students come to our school because traditional school hasn’t worked for them for one reason or another, so we really try to make our school work for them by catering to their interests and abilities to help them be successful.
My Project
The materials I've requested will help students understand their learning targets with "I Can" statements as well as educational posters to place in the room.
My classroom has an old chalkboard, which isn't really conducive to any type of modern learning, and my Smart Board isn't useful to write notes on.
For that reason, I've requested a portable whiteboard for notes as well as some chart paper.
I have also requested the "No Fear Shakespeare Julius Ceasar" because my students are struggling readers and will need more accessible language to understand it.
