Our school building may be closed due to COVID-19, but my 17 third graders have been trying their best to continue their learning from home. Our last day of in person instruction was Monday, March 16th. A two-week closure turned into schools being closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year and our hearts broke.
My Project
Even though our time in the classroom was cut short, my students and I continue to learn and grow together online. This will be a year that will stick with these 8 and 9 year olds for a lifetime.
Many of my students love to free write and draw, but lack the necessary materials at home.
Personal journals, magnifying lenses, and art supplies will allow my students to express their creativity and use their imagination. I look forward to personally delivering these distance learning materials to my third graders. I hope these materials will bring joy to my students and motivate them to continue their learning quest from home as they prepare for the adventures in fourth grade that lie ahead.
