My students need a good table for reading groups. This type of table enables me, as the teacher, to be present with each student as they read.
This project expired on November 17, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My class is diverse in many ways. We have a broad age range from very new 5 year olds to more mature 6 will be 7 year olds. We have students who have had day care, preschool and stay at home experiences. We have readers and students who do not yet know letters or sounds. One thing they all have in common is their enthusiasm! They are all excited to be at school and are ready to learn and I am ready to teach them!
This project will make guided reading easier! We need a table where the children can sit happily with their peers but also be close to the teacher for help when learning to read.
We do all sorts of reading in our kindergarten class.
We do independent, shared and choral reading. We read in pairs, in small groups and as a whole class. WE read on the floor and at tables. We read inside and outside. We write to read and read to write. Kindergarten is where and when we learn to read. This table will help in so many ways but mainly be a way to have a teacher present with each child as they attempt to decode, build fluency and begin to comprehend texts. This would be a great table for a wonderful year!
