My students need an opportunity to experience gardening to build science knowledge and work with their hands. These garden beds will give each grade level an opportunity to plant, weed and harvest vegetables of their choice.

My Students
Our schools are striving to make kids technologically savvy, but we also need to give students the opportunity to work outside with their hands to experience life.
Our elementary school is a diverse community with students living in the neighborhood surrounding the school and students who are bused in.
We have many students who are English Language Learners, the majority being Spanish speakers.
Our school is home to 653 students who come to school curious to learn each day. We strive to demonstrate PRIDE - Positive, Respectful, Inclusive, Determined and about Excellence.
My Project
Students need opportunities to experience science and work with their hands. Schools are decreasing the amount of time spent on science and social studies to boost time spent on literacy and math.
Gardening is a great activity for students to learn about plant structure, growth processes, collaboration, planning, and environment.
Our school is named after a Hispanic farm worker who fought for worker rights. Through the purchase of these 6 garden bed planters, each grade level will have an opportunity to plant, tend and harvest vegetables of their choice. Please help us live out the work of our namesake! Our vegetables will go to school families and the community.
